Clinic Institute of Digestive and Metabolic Diseases (ICMDiM)

The Clínic Institute of Digestive and Metabolic Diseases (ICMDM) was established in 1997 as part of the Hospital Clínic de Barcelona, and brings together all of the healthcare professionals and resources at this institution dedicated to the diagnosis, treatment and prevention of digestive and endocrine diseases, including teaching and research in these areas of medicine and surgery. The ICMDM includes the Gastroenterology, Hepatology, General and Digestive Surgery, and Endocrinology departments.

The work of the ICMDM centres on 11 functional units in which multidisciplinary teams of healthcare professionals are responsible for organising healthcare that is more efficient and based on scientific evidence, and for optimising resources concerning a disease or group of diseases.
